Addictive

You know how people say going to the gym is addictive and you say, "you're full of shit."  Well, actually it's true.  I've been going to the gym 5-7 times a week for the past three weeks and I have to say I'm hooked.  The great thing about it is that I ate like a mad woman Christmas to New Year and I didn't gain any weight.  Not one pound.  Once you start going  you will continue to want to go.

I used to feel too tired to go to the gym after work.  It's a cycle though and the sooner you realize that the better off you will be.  You're too tired to go to the gym after work because you aren't going to the gym after work.  If you put in the effort for just one solid week of consistently going, you will soon start to crave the gym after work.  I really should be taking a rest day today, but I just don't want to!  You can get there to.  When I take my shower at night I like to feel like I really earned it.  When I don't hit the gym I feel like I'm cheating the shower gods.   I urge you to start earning your showers!  Her's to working hard, knowing your shit, showing your shit, and feeling entitled in 2016!

Being entitled is allowed...once you've earned it. Brilliant thoughts from Mindy Kaling.:

Please Remember

I've been reading some articles lately about resolutions for the new year and although losing weight and being healthy is really important to me, I really loved some quotes I found.  The original article is HERE, but these are a few quotes that stood out to me:

"This year, instead of focusing on being less, let's focus on being more. Resolve to have more gratitude for everything your body does for you. Take up more space in the world. Speak up more about things that are important to you. Do more joyful movement. Eat more delicious food that nourishes you. This year, instead of trying to create a 'new you,' resolve to take the old you out for a spin. I think you'll find that she's pretty spectacular."

"What if I told you that the current you was actually pretty awesome and you didn't in fact need a you-replacement? I'm an anti-resolution enthusiast because my body is perfect just as it is ... Reframe the ideology that positions your body as the thing that is keeping you from fulfilling your greatest (and skinniest) destiny. Your body is many things, but I promise it's not your enemy. The size of your body will never be the most important or greatest thing about you."

"You don't need to lose weight to experience your best self. You just need to resolve yourself to living the life you imagine –- in exactly the skin you're already in. You'd be amazed at how that mental shift can be the best choice you've ever made in terms of health and happiness."

"I can also tell you your worth as a human is not dictated by your medical charts or ability to run marathons. You have inherent value — every human does. It's really that simple."

"New year. Same you. Still awesome."

So, I am obviously not an anti-resolutionist, but I appreciate the sentiment and those quotes are definitely some good things to remember.  You can be happy with and love yourself, while still always striving to be better.  Although I'm always working to better myself and be healthier and my best me, I make sure that I am only doing that for myself and not someone else.  If you're doing it for someone else, it's time to re-evaluate.  Some tips when making your resolutions:
-Write them down!!
-Review them at the beginning of each month and make sure you are staying on track
-Tell people about them.  You will feel more accountable.
-Make sure they are attainable.  If you have never gone to a gym before, a goal of going 6 days a week is not a good goal to have.

When you are making resolutions this year, be sure to remember that sometimes fat people are assholes.  Sometimes skinny people are assholes.  Make sure whether you want to lose weight or not, you  resolve to be a better person in 2016.  Don't be an asshole.  That should be everyone's resolution.

...and in case you were wondering, here are a few of mine...

-Remember to wear my fitbit
-Hit the gym 4-5 times a week
-Sign up for a 5k each month (I think my sister did this one year)
-Blog more! (It makes me happy)
-No more saying "should" (We SHOULD do this or that.  Just DO it!)
-Complain less
-Cell phone doesn't come out at a restaurant unless I need to call 911
-Drink more water (you can never drink enough)
-Stop stressing about things out of my control
-Print out pictures from 2016 and create an album (I'm tired of everything only being accessible by computer)
-Oh, yea and don't be asshole :)

What's new?!

I figured I would give a quick update before the New Year for anyone who is motivated to start the year off right!  (Helpful hint:  You don't actually  have to wait until next week.  You can hit the gym now, while it's virtually empty.)

1.  Jon and I joined Gold's gym a few months back.  They just opened about two weeks ago and I must say I really do love it there.  The classes I have been to so far have kicked my butt and been a blast!  There are so many machines that you never have to wait for anything.  It's new so it's super clean.  They have a huge room just for classes and even a separate spin room.  I asked yesterday and they do a 7 day pass if you would like to try it out.  Classes are included in the 7 day pass and all you have to do is show up and fill out a paper with your contact information on it.  Here is the class schedule:

2.  I am doing a Dietbet.  If you haven't heard of these they are pretty cool.  You pay whatever the fee is.  For this one it is $35.  The bet starts on the 5th and goes for around a month and the goal is to lose 4% of your body weight.  The winners split the pot and the losers get nothing.  Best case, you win money.  Worst case, you lose 35 bucks.  It's a good way to stay motivated and have a little fun with losing weight.  Click HERE to see the diet bet that I am a part of!

3.  I'm turning 30 in 23 days.  I'm not really freaking out, but I am feeling a little different about this birthday.  30 is a little different than I imagined it being.  I assumed there would be 2 little kids running around by my 30th birthday, but God has a plan and that wasn't it for me.  However, there are other aspects of my life that I didn't imagine being this good by the time I turned 30.  I never imagined having a husband as wonderful as I do or loving my house or job as much as I do.  Remember as 2016 approaches, that for every thing you can complain about, there are two that you should be grateful for.  Have fun celebrating this week, but make sure to do it responsibly!!  I'll be talking to you guys soon!

Another Rocksbox and Purchases

I got another Rocksbox in and I LOVE everything.  Go figure...

These earrings are adorable

Who doesn't love a Kendra necklace?

And I'm starting to really love Loren Hope jewelry.  Which is unfortunate, because it's pricey.

I'm definitely digging the Rocksbox things and I intend to keep doing this one.  I was accumulating too much jewelry that I wasn't wearing regularly and that can get expensive.  I think this is a better alternative.  Go to HERE to sign up and use code KAITLYNBFF112 for a free month!  You can cancel at anytime so there really is no harm in trying it out.  It would be great to get your first box for Christmas and New years!

I have also been doing some purchasing of a few things that I am currently in love with!  These Sam Edelman booties are going to be worn pretty much everywhere and with everything.

I've been really wanting a poncho.  If you haven't been to Simply Chic boutique in Baton Rouge, you need to try it out.  It's on Highland by Alexander's Market.  All of their stuff is adorable.

And lastly, a little bragging to be done.  I told Jon that I wanted this watch, but I found some cheap knock offs that were kind of similar.  He said he would order the knock-off as a Christmas gift.  Low and behold this shows up at work today.  What a great husband!!

Rocksbox

So I may just be a little obsessed/out of control with these box subscriptions.  I've tried quite of few, but I have been on a hiatus for awhile.  I saw a coupon code to get your first month free with Rocksbox, so I figured why not!  And I think I'm going to be hooked on this one.  I signed up for it last Friday and OMG it's here already!!!

Can I just say the packaging is adorable.

Seriously...adorable.

Each box comes with three pieces.  This is what was in my box.  I was pretty excited to see some Kendra Scott in there!

The Gorjana Mesa Crossover Ring.  Valued at $45.00.

Kendra Scott Alex Earrings in Chalcedony.  Valued at $55.00.

The Loren Hope Palmer Necklace in Drift.  Valued at $118.00

It was tough to see on top of my LOUD shirt.

When you sign up for Rocksbox you take a survey about your style and what you like.  I would venture to say they pretty much nailed it.  I love everything I got.  Now for the "how it works" part...

1. Sign up and take your survey.
2. They send you your first box!
3. Wear what you like, when you like.
4. Return your pieces whenever you are done wearing them, or purchase them if you'd like.
5. Rocksbox sends you three more pieces!

You can keep the jewelry for as long as you want or send it back immediately.  You pay $19/month for the service and can cancel anytime you want.  You get a $10 credit each month to purchase any of the jewelry that you can't live without.  You also get a discount on the jewelry since you're signed up for the service.  For example the Kendra Scott earring are worth $55.  I can purchase them for $44 minus my $10 credit.  $34 for those earring is a steal!

If you are interested in trying this out you can use the code KAITLYNBFF112 to get your whole first month for free!!  That's 9-12 pieces of jewelry depending on how quickly you send back what you get.

First 10

The first 10 days of my 24 day challenge are down and my weight is down too!  I have lost 6.4 pounds since last Monday.  I feel amazing.  That means I have 14 days to lose the remaining 6.6.  I totally got this!
